Groups.google is a bit messed up today and it won't let me post a
follow up
to my original message so I'll just start a new thread with the same
subject.
Thanks for the replies so far.
It turned out to be more easily resolved than I anticipated.
I updated the audiodriver (at
configuration>system>hardware>devicemanagement), selected a different
driver in the list (containing two seemingly identical drivers) and
after rebooting sound worked perfectly again.
I dunno what motivated windows to install a different driver as this
is not my computer and just had to fix things without knowing how
things got messed up in the first place, but at least everything is ok
again. |
