strange ewf behaviour |
|
|
Hi all,
short situation description:
small pc with 256Mb internal mem. and 1Ghz processor.
1st HD: CF card of 512 MB
2nd HD: 2.5" HD 20 GB
build an ewf for CF sollution when only CF card was inserted.
ewf worked fine. could enable and disable it fine.
2nd HD was connected (this HD is needed to store volatile data)
now ewf is enabled on d: drive instead of c: drive !
on my d: drive (first partition of second HD) is also an embedded test build.
on my e: drive (second partition of second HD) is an xp installation.
i rebuild the sollution completely from cf card (fba has run when 2nd HD was
disconnected)
at first i had copied my embedded build of the first partition of de 2nd HD
to the first partition of the 1st HD.
and it had the same effect.
That's why i fba'ed the first partition of the first HD directly from CF card.
But as soon as i connect the 2nd HD, ewf goes to the wrong partition.
i'm using ram (reg based) ewf ...
how can i adjust the protected volume after fba?
thanks! |

Hi G. Roleant,
Huh. You probably have hiden EWF config volume on second disk. Please delete it with diskpart or some other tool.
It this does not help please check your ARC path in registry. But if we talk about XPe on first partition of boot diks then your
problem is definitely wityh hidden config partition that is legacy from some of your previous tests.
Regards,
Slobodan

Are you 100% sure, your bios isn't causing you to boot from your actual hard
drive?

i installed diskpart on my xp partition and tried to delete the 63kb
partition at the end of my second drive
diskpart seems to see only 1 drive... he doesn't see my cf card...
when i try to delete it is says:
"the selected partition may be neccessary to the operation of your computer,
and may not be deleted"
any other tricks i can try?
thanks!

Use override switch like:
delete partition override
Also etprep util can delete EWF partition.

partition manager
http://www.partition-manager.com
Is a good tool for viewing the partions and removing it.
The free version can let you view and delete partions.(at least it did back
in version 5.5)
