Problems getting database to install |
|
|
The Eval has installed ok on a target device - but obviously very slow when
building image.
So we tried a development machine - running XP Pro sp2
When the database tries to install we get the following error, and the
process rolls back.
The message says that another application is using the database - but there
is not.
So what does this error really mean ?
Help greatly needed - as banging my head now hurts.

I ran into a very similar problem installing SP2. I had all kinds of
trouble getting the database installed. I tried a number of times
unsuccessfully and eventually tried a reboot right before installing
the database. That did the trick and the install completed
successfully. I would try that and see if you have any luck.
Good Luck,

Angus,
A little bit more details on your dev.machine setup would be helpful.
For the start please check:
- WSH version (should be the latest 5.6.)
- no AV software running on the machine

Can you elaborate on what types of AV software.
Indeed we have some installed. But how on earth could this interfere ?
Thanks

Angus,
You better turn off/disable/uninstall any type of AV on that dev machine (at leat for testing purposes).
IIRC, problems have been reported with Norton AV and Mcaffe.
