Hi All,

Here's what I'd like to know:

Is it possible to have a boxed system that has XPe running on it, that
can download and install a completely new runtime image to itself and
then boot from it? Think flashing the firmware on a router or the
like.

I know about DUA and its capabilities (vaguely), but we're looking into
contingency planning and it would be nice if things go (almost)
horribly wrong, for us to be able to dump a fresh clean image to a
target system over a network.

I have the sneaking suspicion that this is a grossly non-trivial task,
but I'd like someone here to confirm or deny my suspicions.
Thanks in advance!

Hi Ryan,

You have network :-)

If your BIOS support PXE boot from network then you can boot small XPe image from network that will bring your larger disk image
from network also and reimage disk.
This is not hard to do and many people are using this aproach.

Ryan,

And one more approach to remotely update the entire image in case you don't have PXe support on your client devices or it is
prohibited on your network.

You can use "Windows2" way:
