File sharing between two computers |
|
|
Hi,
We have 2 computers. One of them is a desktop running Windows XP Pro and the
other is a laptop running Windows XP Home SP1. I have networked them via a
router. The problem I am having is that the laptop (running Win XP Home SP1)
is able to access the shared folders stored on the desktop but the desktop
(running Win XP Pro) cannot access the shared folders stored on the laptop.
When I try to open the shared folder stored on the laptop from the desktop, I
get the following error: "\\Laptop\Documents is not accessible. You might not
have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of
this server to find out if you have access permissions. Access is denied."
The TCP/IP settings for the local area network are the same on both computers.
I don't know what the problem is, would really appreciate if someone could
help in this.
Thanks for your help,
Rahul |

Thanks for the reply Carey.
Would resetting the networking configuration solve the problem?
If so, do I reset the configuration on both computers or only on the laptop
(as the shared folder stored on the laptop cannot be accessed by the other
computer).
Thanks,
Rahul

It should resolve the problem if you reset the configuration on ALL PCs.
