How do I transfer music files from my laptop to my new desktop? Both are
running Windows XP.

Several options:
1. If the PCs are networked, one can drag and drop from one to the other.
2. If you have a CD burner on the Laptop then copy to CD and read into the PC.
3. If you don't have 1 or 2, then use a floppy disk and copy across [very
slow].
4. If 1,2 or 3 are not available to you, go out and buy an ethernet
crossover cable [they are about $10] and connect the PCs or else buy a USB
memory stick [they are about $40 for a 256Mb unit].

Thanks. I'll give the crossover cable a try.
