I am so new to this but I would like to take old records and tapes and turn
them in to MP3. Any idea on what I would need? I have itunes... I have no
clue but would really like to get this done.

Thanks

First, you probably need a small pre-amp then get a cable that combines the
left and right output (male RCA jack) and feeds them into a small mini plug
so you can input it to your PC. Then you may have to buy some software
(like Nero or Roxio's CD creator).

Connect the line out of your hifi to the line in of your PC.

Make sure line in is selected as the input device (double click on the
loudspeaker icon in the systray > Options > Properties > tick Recording >
OK > tick the input selection( line in in your case) then close the
window).

Download Audacity - its free from here :

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

and make sure the input device you select on the toolbar is line in. Away
you go.

Cheers,
Jerry

I use a program called 'audio cleaning lab' from magix.com. there are other
similar programs I believe, but try an internet search using a few key words
and see what you find. Start at magix.com! You will need a long lead to
connect from your hifi amp output to the stereo jack on your sound card. try
ebay under the hifi section?
