Hi all.

My Sharp ViewCam model VL-SD20S (bought few years ago), still doesn't work
with my newly purchased XP Pro SP2 Asus notebook.

As I turn on the camera (connected via a 1394 cable), XP properly recognize
the device and starts MovieMaker for acquisition.

Unfortunately, the software messages me that "no tape is in the camera"
(when trying to rewind for entire tape acquisition), or hangs with
unspecified "Error" (when trying to capture with manual tape playing).

I tried same camera and same cable on another XP Pro SP2 Asus notebook (same
versions of MovieMaker and XP), and it works correctly.

Does anyone know about any hotfix, or Sharp driver update, or any kind of
support about this matter?

Thanks guys.

Alberto

I just noticed something new I'd like to share with the NG.

If I disconnect and reconnect the camcorder, a second device appears on
explorer.
Let's say this device is called "CamCorder #2", while the previous one
(still visible on explorer but non communicating) was "CamCorder".
On the preview window of this second device, if I play the tape, a perfect
video is visible!!

Unfortunately, MovieMaker doesn't show 'acquisition device selection' page
if the only device is a DV camcorder, so I'm not able to inform MovieMaker
to use "Camcorder #2" instead of "CamCorder" device (at least, this is what
I consider being the problem, currently).

Suggestions?

Alberto
