For som ereason I am unable to hook this up. Using the firewire cable
provided, everything is hooked up cable-wise. But when I try to click
"capture from video device" it error messages "A video capture device was
not detected". Anyone have any ideas what might be happening? |

Can you list the exact way you connected, to each and which canopus model it
is, whether it was turned on etc.
Also have you checked out the canopus forums, www.canopus.com and look for
your model and search if therer have been any similar problems.

Canopus' websire is no help and they are on vacation - yes thats right - the
whole company is on vacation.
The ADVC100 saw input from a VCR and output to the firewire cable they
provide. That cable was hooked into the front input of my PC. Everything
was turned on - I even changed the power-up variables (comp first, ADVC
first, etc.)

The forums are mostly answered the same as these newsgroups, by volunteers.
I do it and have been doing it over the holiday period, so I cannot see the
point you are making about the whole company being on holiday, it won't
matter. You need to go to the forums, not technical help.
I would try plugging the cable in to the rear firewire socket, often, for
some reason I don't know, front connections cause trouble.
When you connect the advc100 do you get hte xp ping - found new hardware
balloon? If not then the connection between module and pc is not being made.
