After the lengthy process of transferring an old 8mm tape to my computer I
went to burn it to a DVD, but was informed that there is not enough room on
the DVD to burn the full file. I know I can trim the clip BEFORE saving to
the computer as a finished movie, but can I trim it after I have saved it?
What is the easiest way to get the movie onto the DVD (or a couple of DVDs)?
What about a double layer DVD burner, can that help? Thanks

How big is the finished file? That will dictate whether you can fit it on a
single or double layer DVD. Also, how do you intend to use the final DVD? It
won't work in your standalone DVD player unless it supports high MAT video
(which is rare).

A better option may be to convert it to either VCD or Xvid....

I am not sure what the file size is, but it wouldn't burn on a normal DVD.
The tape that I transferred was just over 2 hours long. I have since became
so frustrated I deleted the saved copy that was on my computer and will
start over... choose a good stopping point to break up the tape and burn it
on two separate DVD's. Then I will again delete the file from my computer and
have the original tape and a DVD the children can watch. I am so
inexperienced that I may be going about this the wrong way. In fact, I have
heard that a stand alone DVD recorder can copy my tape onto a blank DVD in
much less time without the lengthy process of saving it on my computer. Do
you have any suggestions? What is MAT? The home movie I burned a few days ago
played just fine on my DVD player, but the file easily fit on a standard DVD.
Thanks
