I have a JVC GR-D230U Digital recorder, and am using a USB cable to connect
it to my computer. When I try to capture the video, the computer recognizes
it as a device I can use, and I leave the video setting on "best quality for
playback on my computer," but when I click next, an error pops up that says
"An interface has too many methods to fire events from." Would any of you
happen to know what this means? Or know how to fix whatever problem is
happening?

The error message means you are trying to capture MPEG-2 files with Movie
Maker and it won't work with that file type....

Digital camcorders should be connected by firewire and Movie Maker can
capture the full Digital Video (DV-AVI) file.

Mini-DV camcorders have firewire (or iLink) connections to pass the full
digital video file (DV-AVI).

The computer needs a firewire capture device (they don't all come with
them), and you need to connect the computer and camcorder with a firewire
cable.

Thank you very much for your help! Is there any way that you know of that I
can tell whether I have a capture device or not?

Try Start > Control Panel > Performance and Maintenance > System > Hardware
tab > Device Manager > see if you have a branch named IEEE 1394 Bus host
controllers.

In the video capture wizard, why is the automatic videocapture not there?
