Two options available when configuring "ATI RAGE Theater audio" and "SoundMAX
digital Audio".
ATI shows active audio meter but gives "device not responding Close any
other application using device and continue" error. No other programs open?

If i choose SoundMAX it proceeds to show video preview but no audio

Checked your site and links pretty thoroughly. insiteful but no cure found.
I have: reloaded ATI hardware drivers, reverted to MM1, disabled sp2 firewall
tv capture works fine with xp media center My TV, but I cannot import the
file type created for editing.
When ATI rage theater audio is selected as audio input device the meter
pings showing the audio is there. Is there a way to route the audio output
of the ATI card (pins on the S-Video connector?) to the line in on the
SoundMAX card???
Note: When the SoundMAX card is selected as the audio input device. . . The
capture works (video only) I believe because the audio is not being routed to
any of the SoundMAXs inputs(line - Mix out)

Hello,

Have you thought about plugging your Audio into your soundcard?? You
see, S-Video does NOT carry an audio track. You should have been told that.

The "TV" signal input is via the coax connector on the ATI 64MB all-in-wonder
9000 tv tuner board! ie No separate audio and video signal available. I
didn't know if there was a way to isolate the audio from S-Video . . .
that's why I was asking.

Is this a Riddle? We know you're NOT talking about MM2. So, give us some glue to solve your problem --- especially; what equipment
connected to what equipment and what end result you want.

You can split the signal by using a GE RF Modulator (GE is General Electrics) (RF is Radio Frequency) BUT we don't know what
you're trying to accomplice.

In PC:
To check for sound: Use Windows Media Player.
To check your Microphone & sound card, etc use Sound Recorder.

In TV:
You didn't mention if you can view normal TV broadcast programs, etc. etc.

Don't afraid to write more description of your problem, equipment, OS, TV, etc, etc. It's likes going to a doctor for physical
check-up and I reveal my naked body and the doctor inspect all orifices.

So, Post again and tell us more.

Thanks for responding!

My set up is as follows
Program: Windows Movie Maker
Computer: Dell Dimension 4600
OS: XP media center edition
TV Tuner card: ATI 64MB All-in-Wonder 9000
Sound Card: SoundMax Digital Audio
TV signal via coax cable connector on ATI card.

Two input device options are available "ATI RAGE Theater audio" and
"SoundMAX digital Audio".

When SoundMax is selected. The program will capture video but no audio.
I have verified that all of the mixer recorder inputs are "not" muted and
the volumes are up. I have selected each of them. No audio is present.

When "ATI RAGE Theater audio" is selected, the input meter pings with audio
signal present. The "Input Source" is grayed out and says "none".
When I try to proceed with the capture, a "device not responding Close any
other application using device and continue" error is given. No other
programs open?

Note tv capture works fine with xp media center My TV, but I cannot import
the file type created for editing.
No problem with audio anywhere else.

Per forum recommendations in the WMM forum
I have: reloaded ATI hardware drivers, reverted to MM1, disabled sp2 firewall

Sorry if previous details were sketchy. No riddle. Simple want to Capture
live TV and do some simple editing.

Thanks Bob

Hello Bob,
Thank you for making us understand your problem. If I'm not wrong your only problem is TV audio signal. If I'm correct your
problem is located in TV Tuner card: ATI 64MB All-in-Wonder 9000. To test it --- try it with another PC.

If I'm wrong --- maybe other will come to your help. Keep on watching for right solution or fix.

Regards & All The Best,
