In the sign on box for different uses a drop down box appears with e-mail
addresses of all the different uses who have signed into messenger. Can
someone explain to me how I delete the e-mail addresses that appear in the
drop down box in the sign on box.

Run 'regedit' from the Run command and search through the registry for one
of the names in the drop down box.

Your sure to find the entry where it has all the sign in names.

I cant remember exactly how to do it off the top of my head, but try
http://messenger.jonathankay.com that should help you out.

Greetings Warren,

To remove these names, click the Start Button, then click the Control Panel. Then, click
User Accounts in the Control Panel. Select your account name, and then on the left side of
the screen, under Related Tasks, click 'Manage my Network Passwords'. In the window that
opens, you can remove an account by clicking the passport you wish to delete [denoted by
(Passport)], and then click the 'Remove' button. For more detailed instructions and
screenshots on this procedure, see here:

This doesn't work for me. The account I want to remove won't dissapear :-(
I can select it but not delete it.

How can I change the registry that it won't remember a username?

Hi Lieven,

Are you using the Dutch version of Windows XP? If you are, what you're seeing is a bug
within the Dutch version and as such, the 'Delete' button will do nothing and you will not be
able to remove these using that method.

As such, you'll need to remove all the passports by simply removing your Credentials file
(all your saved Passports will be removed). To do so, click Start, then Run, type:
%appdata%\microsoft\Credentials
and then click OK.
Then in the folder that appears you'll see another folder with a very long name, right click
this folder, choose Delete, then confirm the operation. You'll then need to reboot to see
the change.
