Theoretically, Windows XP should recognize any new hardware or device, and so
did for a long time with my photo camera, but suddenly the PC stopped
recognizing my Sony Cybershot. The Sony icon that automaticaly used to show
up in My Computer folder is not longer appearing. Can anyone tell me what´s
going on? Everything works fine in my other computer, so it´s not the camera.
Thanks guys.

I'm presuming this is USB, right?
Anything else work in your USB ports?
Have you tried this in another USB port?
Anything look funky in device manager or event logs?

Everything works just fine. I changed the usb port, and I also tried not
using the usb hub at all and pluging it through the PC.

Do any other USB devices work?
USB hubs do often cause problems, in my experience.

Everything works perfectly well, except for the camera. I tried without the
usb hub and nothing happens. I tryed connecting in different usb ports, and
none.
In the Device Manager the Sony icon appears with a yellow exclamation point
and in the properties says the driver is not working. It is useless trying to
reload the old driver, upgrade the new one, or even make it work without
software. I think I pretty much cover everything. I´ve run out of ideas. Any
new idea is welcome. Thanks for your time pal.

What happens if you delete the offending item in device manager? Then
*carefully* remove the reference to it and only it in the registry?
(HKLM\system\currentcontrolset\enum\usb - make a backup of this first by
exporting)

Then reboot, with the device unplugged, then plug it in and let it prompt
for the correct driver (which you will of course have handy)?

Simply reinstall the drivers. If you don't have them handy, go to
Sony's site and get the latest.

XP is telling you exactly what is wrong. Just fix it.

Have a nice one...
