PC build from scratch |

Hi out there;
I am about to build my own pc in the New Year for the first time, and will
do it with a certain degree of future proofing built in.I have decided on the
m/board (Asus P5GD2 ..ht..pci xpress..serial ata etc) and the cpu (P4
LGA775..2.8ghz..800gz Bus) +
1g of DDR2 ram to start (needed for video work)Rest of stuff i already have.
Anybody got any tips, suggestions on best places to buy from , what to
avoid, pitfalls etc.
Also I live in UK, prices are a lot cheaper in USA, has anybody bought from
there and if so what problems is there ,and any tips on best sites.

That will future-proof you for at least three weeks.. :)
Your biggest problem, having selected certain items from manufacturer
websites, is where to buy them.. visits to computer stores will tell all..
you get there and they have only a couple ot makes if that, and invariably
not what you are looking for..
Mail order from the US will not be an option because shipping and import
duty will make it too expensive.. that applies to UK too not including
import duties obviously.. it is probably best to buy local if you can.. not
so far to take crap stuff back in the event of failure..
Also, you will need a powersupply suitable for your mobo.. a regular ATX PS
will not have the outlets necessary..
Whatever board you get, go to www.crucial.com to check out memory type
required..
