Tell us the camera manufacturer and model so maybe we can help.
Also, you connected the camera via a USB port? Did XP recognize the camera?
At what point did the system fail?

Yes recognized camera, Kodak dx4900, Yes USB, when she used photoshop, or any
photo application to retrieve the photos, message was a program is already in
use, and a popup to register some OCR software kept coming up whenever she
tried it again, and the system became extremely slow.
The service. Windows Image Acquisition will not start, from the services
app, and the event viewer, shows the error ID 7034.

New messages from system.

Server busy this action cannot be completed , retry, or Switch to buttons.

Hp scanning! Program maybe unstable recommend restart.

Try to get photos from any program, and HP 2700 scanner is only option
available, this is when the camera is plugged in.

Unfortunately I don't know much about Kodak cameras, particularly if this is
one of their Easy Share line. All I know is that I had to go to the Kodak
site to get instructions for two of my neighbors with Easy Share cameras.
Kodak has its own software to download pictures from the camera and we did
get this to work, but it had nothing to do with XP. I would recommend to go
to the Kodak site and click on support and see what is available.
