Remote connection |
|
|
Hi,
I have a laptop running Win XP home, and want to connect to my home computer
(XP home), via a phone line.
The home computer is connected to cable internet, and i want to be able to
access this internet connection remotely through a phone connection.
Is this possible through Win XP home, because i have tried to set-up
incomming connections, but when the laptop connects it says the protocols are
not correct. How can this be done?
Thanks in advance |

Hi
There are varieties of ways to do so.
But the simplest method with relative degree of security (you do not want to
expose the content of your computers to the world) is to set it up to use a
remote control program.
Windows XP Pro has a Native Remote Control called Remote Desktop. So one
way would be to upgrade to WinXP Pro.
Another way would be to set a third party Remote Control Program.
An Example: http://www.ezlan.net/vnc.html
This page has more info about making a connection available through the
Internet: http://www.ezlan.net/myip.html
