I've been working on this christmas gift slide show-like movie and when I go
to save it to a cd it says I should check the space in the cd, make sure all
my sources are there, and see if there's a big enough file to keep it in. I
know my movie can fit in the cd and I've tried everything I know to "check my
source files." I really need to get this movie burned before Christmas-can
anybody help me?? I did use a lot of scanned pictures..if that's of any use.
Thanks

Just search this newsgroup for a whole bunch of ideas that probably
won't fix your problem. I and many, many others are facing the same
problem. But, some people have managed to fix their problems, it
seems, so don't give up hope.
I'm still looking for a good MovieMaker replacement....

I fixed it! Here's how.

1) Go to Internet Explorer --> Tools --> Windows Update --> Custom
Install. Make sure to install *everything*, including the 'optional
software updates' listed at the left.

2) Restart your computer when prompted.

3) Install Microsoft Movie Maker 2.0 from the Download.com site (since
I don't think it's available at M$ site anymore). URL is
http://www.download.com/Windows-Movie-Maker/3000-2194_4-10187903.html .
Then, everything will hopefully work fine! Good luck!

I have also been working on a christmas project and can't seem to get the
video to write to a cd. I downloaded all the updates and it still gave me
the message that there wasn't a cd in the drive. The only way I could copy
the movie over was formatting my CD so that I could just click and drop my
movie to it. If anyone ever gets the movie maker to actually "burn" a cd I'd
like to get updated as to what you did to succeed.
Thanks

I had the problem of not having enough space on the cd. I finally clicked on
"show more choices" and then chose "Best fit to file size" and kept the down
arrow depressed (lowering the file size) until the " . . . too large to fit .
.. ." message disappeared (at 641 mb). It took about 12 hours for my movie to
save to cd. When I play it there is a lot of "stuttering". (I'm sure there
is probably better terminology for this, but I'm new to the whole video
capture/movie-making scene and don't know it).
