Greetings KLM,

Messenger itself doesn't have this capability per say, but what you can do is add your
"reason" for being away to your display name. So, if your name was "David", simply set your
name to "David {Working}" and then set yourself as away.

Also, Messenger Plus! can actually do this for you, after installing Messenger Plus!
(http://www.msgplus.net), simply go away, and you'll see the "Personalised Away" message box
appear where you can set this up. Take note that if you do try this option, be sure to read
through the installer, as if you do not wish to install the sponsor program (ie. advertising)
that goes along with Plus!, be sure *not* to chose that option during the installation.

As a sys admin in company with a few PCs (OK 6200), I can
tell you that for the 2000 or so users who have enough
rights to install this software... this litle addin has
been causing a good number calls to the helpdesk. It
seems the 3.40 beta doesn't give you the option to
install these "extras" or not (We have people running MSN
7.0 Beta and you need the Messenger Plus! Beta in order
to work with it). Messenger Plus! v3.4 installs the
mysearchnow toolbar, a half dozen or so "webhosting" ad
shortcuts on the desktop, but worse yet ties to
download/run "soap view.exe" which our OfficeScan AV
software IDs as being infected with TROJ_SWIZZOR.R
(http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/virusencyclo/default5.asp
?VName=TROJ_SWIZZOR.R). More trouble than it is worth.
Yet to find a better IM client than YIM personally.

Actually it does give you the option to not install the
sponsor programs but I guess my people didn't take the
time to read! We will have to block it none-the-less as
the sponsor apps set off our AV software.
