IEEE1394 Firewire Problem |
|
|
Ever since upgrading to SP2 on my Sony laptop, whenever I connect my high-end
digital camera to an Adaptec FireConnect IEEE 1394 PC Card, the software for
the camera does not recogize that the camera is connected.
When I go into Device Manager, there is a yellow exclamation mark next to
the driver. I then have to uninstall the driver, restart and reinstall the
driver with the camera connected. Everything works fine until I 1) disconnect
and reconnect the camera for whatever reason or 2) shut down and restart the
computer. Either way, even with the card and camera connected, I must again
go through uninstalling and reinstalling the driver steps and restarting -
everytime!
I noticed there was an IEEE1394 patch locatied at:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=5c076e4c-aec8-434d-9849-e668a50e6e81&DisplayLang=en
It is supposed to correct some IEEE capture device issues. I downloaded and
installed it, but it didn't make a darn bit of difference. The funny thing is
that I use this same camera and software on a Dell tower and do not
experience this problem at all. Only on the Sony laptop.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem? |

Remove the camera software and any drivers associated with it. In
device manager, show hidden devices to help identifying
camera-associated devices. Remove the IEEE host controller. Reboot.
The IEEE host controller driver should be reinstalled properly - check
device manager. Consult the camera installation guide and install the
camera software/driver exactly as required.
