Lost my xp Product key |

I was going to run repair during a reinstal but it asked for my product key. I still have the xp 64 installation disk with its original cover sleeve
and product key which came with my version of xp sp2 I thought it would work but it won't. I'm registered with Microsoft and my version is legit but how do I get microsoft to tell me what it is. They must know what it is because I verify it often when M.S. propmts me to do so for some downloads occasionally. Please help
