blue screan at the end of"finalize disk" with dla |

help...got a new lenovo t61 with XP Pro (type 8897cto), has been working fine for a month but since yesterday i am getting the infamous blue screen (though no death yet) when i create a cd using the pre-loaded dla during the final step: "finalize disk"
details-
a. steps leading to blue screen:
1. format new cd using 'quick format' option of dla
2. drag files to the drive
3. right-click on drive and choose 'finalize disk'
----the disk appears to do something but then the blue screen appears and the disk is ejected.
b. message on blue screen: windows encountered a problem that it could not fix and is shutting down-- no numbers or codes (since the pc reboots automatically, i have to read fast
c. the pc automatically reboots ok
d. after reboot, the usual message about sending an error report appears. the only thing i could get out of tracking the error details is that it is because i have installed a new hw or sw but i have NOT done either. there was a ref to an article q322205 but that does apply as i have not connected any new hardware.
e. pc works fine for all other functions- email, browsing, msword..
any suggestions??
