We originally went for a USB headset, which gave us some problems getting it to work in the first place. Recently our son broke that one so we switched to the regular ones. Now the speakers of the headset work fine, but the microphone seems to be acting up. We only get static, even when the headset is unplugged. And it works fine on my Dell. When he's on Vent, and uses the mic, all anyone hears is static. All the tests and configs don't seem to hear me when I talk into the mic either. The USB mic seems to be working, though. Prior to using the USB headset we did have one other which plugged like the new one does, and we had no problems.
I was wondering if anyone had similar problems, and if it was a drivers or other software problem. We aren't even sure what it was about the USB headset that was causing problems before, but Windows would never seem to acknowledge it right. We had to switch over which device was being used manually. |
