Internet Explorer 7, Internet Explorer 6 |

I would greatly appreciate your help with these Internet Explorer problems.
I have Windows XP Home Edition. I am trying to install Internet Explorer 7 Beta 3. When I attempt to open the program, I receive the following message:
"Setup could not verify the integrity of the files needed for installation. Make sure that the cryptographic service is running on this computer."
Is there anything I can do to get IE up and running? (I understand Firefox is better, but I also need IE)
In additon, I attempted to install IE 6 but I get a message stating that setup is not possible, due to the fact that a newer version is installed on my computer, however, to my knowledge there is not a newer version installed. How do I check for this newer version and what else should I do? _________________ Smiles |

| After searching through the microsoft website i've found a similar message in a help manual for SP2 which states: “Setup could not verify the integrity of the file Update.inf. Make sure the Cryptographic service is running on this computer.” After follow a troubleshooting link below it i came to a resoulution page: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;822798 . Imho either you downloaded IE 7 from a website other than microsoft.com and the certificates aren't allowing it to install or dll's have changed and maybe microsoft should be re-installed. Or for an easy way out, download and install firefox 1.504, firefox 2 beta, opera 9, or another "internet explorer" type program. One of the reasons these programs are becoming so popular is becuase they lack the amount of security holes that ie 7 does (or just the fact not many hackers target them as much as internet explorer), many of them have hundreds or random downloads like new themes or add-ons, and they're free! Just my 2 cents |
