Here's the deal.

I currently get connections using both ethernet and dial up. However, although connected, IE and messenger can't seem to get data in. I ran ping on the modem router and the network router with passing grades.

I did notice that dhcp is not activated while running ipconfig.

The thing is that before and during a cleanup of the machine (it was loaded with trojans and spyware) internet access was not a problem. Once I cleaned it up sending over 1800 infected files into the AVG vault it suddenly stopped working.

I'm planning on running the OS CD to repair the system as an attempt to remove this problem....or maybe restore individual files from the vault and see if that helps.

What do you think???

go to add/remove programs and see if you have something called New.Net installed. This can restrict internet access meaning you can dial up or connect to your dsl but no page loads.
