PcCillin Firewall vs XP Firewall |
|
|
Hey Ya'll...
I have PcCillin 2006 Internet Security, and would like to run that firewall, but when I turn XP firewall off and turn on PcCillin firewall,...I get the good ol' "this page cannot be displayed" message. It is my understanding that the XP firewall leaves a lot to be desired...Any ideas??
FYI:
XP Pro /SP2, Intel 945Gnt, Pent4 2.80g, 40g Seagate, PcCillin, Spybot S&D, Adaware, A-squared, Windows Defender, and at the moment, run XP firewall..(PcCillin, Spybot, Win Def, "Real Time")..
Any suggestions? Any other programs I should run?
Thanks ya'll.

| I have been using ZoneAlarm (free version) for several years. It works like a charm. |

I agree, Zone Alarm's free firewall if the best money...wel can't buy because it free. It also has something windows firewall lacks, outgoing protection. In other words programs ask for acess to your computer, but once they're in the firewall dosen't stop them from sending things out of your copmuter. Also windows live care (couldn't find link to it, sorry) has a firewall that moniters/blocks in-coming and out-going traffic. Btw, you don't need 3 or more spyware removal devices unless you realy go out and odwnload a bunch of junk of the internet, ad-aware and spybot s&d are very good, but imho get rid of windows defender becuase it almost never finds anything in it's searches that spybot and ad-aware don't do. But i have heard it fins rootkits, but i've had no success with that . Imo, you only need 2 spyware removers (ad-aware se and spybot search and destroy), 1 firewall (zone alarm...please turn off windows firewall), and 1 anti-virus (i ue mcafee but there are some free anti-virus programs online). Now there are many other programs that may help your system, ccleaner, icesword (rootkit detector), or maybe system mechanic, but these programs aren't totally necessary unlless you start to see problems iwth your system. |
