Cant Access External Hard Disc |
|
|
I bought a new computer and want to keep my info from my old machine, so I took the Fujitsu 10Gig HD out and put it in one of those External Drive Enclosures.
I connected it to my Windows XP and it loaded the drivers, shows it as working properly in Device Manager an lists it in the Disk Management area.
I has not automatically assigned it a drive letter and when I right click to do so, all choices greyed out except "Delete Partition".
If windows is recognizing it, how do I give it a drive letter so I can access my old data.
It is FAT32 (used on Win98SE system)
It is 10Gig
The jumper was set to Master before installed in enclosure
It a Fujitsu HD
The enclosure is USB2.0 backwards compatable with 1.1
I it recognized by Windows XP, but wont give me access
If this is not possible to do - please give me another suggestion as to how I can access my old HD - Can I just put it in a stripped down machine with just a motherboard and connect it as a networked machine? Is there anothe way. I dont wish to loose 8 years worth of Data.
Desperate - Thank you guys for your help.
PLEASE EXPLAIN IN PLAIN ENGLISH - I AM NOT COMPUTER EXPERT. Thank you. |
