Windows Media is not detecting my MP3 player. The USB cable is fine becaue all works well on Husbands Laptop. I've already talked with Sandisk support and they say it's a software/computer issue. I have the Sandisk Sansa series 230 mp3 player. Can someone please help! Would love to be able to put the CD's I put on Media onto my MP3 player.

Can you see the MP3 disk with your Windows Explorer?

To put your CD on your mp3 player, I think you need to convert it to MP3 files first.

No, it's not showing up on Windows Explorer. Putting my Cd's on windows media and ripping them work great, just can't syn them to Mp3 player because I always get "Device not detected"

How did this happen? Is it your first time to use the MP3 player on your computer?

If the MP3 player is connected to the computer with USB, does your computer detect any other USB devices such as digital camera?

Have your installed the software bundled with the MP3 player (if any)?

I bought XP home edition just so I could use WIndows Media 10 to syn CD's to my MP3 player. I have no problem with my digital camera being recognized. THe only software I got with the Mp3 was the tiny little disk that says Installation CD user guide. I put that on yesterday and didn't make a difference.

The problem seems to be on the MP3 player. I suggest you try it on another computer to confirm this.

The player is not the problem. It works on my Husbands laptop with no problems. And I talked to Sandisk support and everything is fine with the player. Something in the Window XP software is missing or not picking up on the device.

Since you talked to their support, they should be aware of all possible reasons.

Maybe you can try reinstalling the driver from their website:

We checked the drivers and Sandisk said they were fine. I found another thread and posted on it. I see that others have this same problem. Might just have to use my Husbands laptop. I asked Sandisk about downloading drivers but was told since I had the correct ones didn't need to.

i realise this is an old post but i suggest that you install media player 9. media player 10 is just a beta and so probably may have certain 'features' to it
