I have two computers both windows XP and connected by a crossover.

I am wanting to share the files, i can ping each computer and they are both seeing each other in that sense, however only one of the computers can see the other in my network places. I am finding this odd because i really dont know what to do next. On the computer that can see both i click on the access to the other computer and it says i dont have permission to acces the resource. Any ideas? By the way i have tried this with firewalls disables and still no joy.

Did you try the network wizard in Windows XP? It makes the configuration much easier.

Thats what i have tried but with no luck. Any more ideas guys? I just find it strange.

i have almost the same problem.in fact i setup my home network using the network wizard...

i've setup networking before on win98.and added printers and such etc.it was rather easy but in windows xp encountered this problem.

Perhaps anyone out there might provide us with some tips and solutions on the actual setup procedure?
