Wouldn't itunes be using Media Player or something else as "player"?
So sounds like sound card is fine.
Now need to check integrity of "drive or "cds".
what cd/dvd drives do you have?

That's what I said. iTines are playing from HDD with good sound. So that
rules out the Sound Card from being defective.
Now have to concentrate on the "CDs" or the "Dual player".
Multiple CDs therefore suggest that it's something to do with "DVD
burner".
Check ribbon cable, sound cable, and possibly clean "player"
If available, try another "player".
Not familiar with dual layer, does that mean 2 drives?
