No Audio Device |
|
|
My husband installed games from Yahoo, and now we have no audio device in the
"sounds and audio devices" from control panel, and the screen "skips" when
scrolling down.
I have reviewed the help and support, and am not getting any resolution.
Also, I now have a yellow question mark in the Device Manager listing "other
devices" which include Multimedia Audio Controller (2 listings), SM Bus
controller, and Video controller (VGA compatible). The New Hardware manager
is unable to find the software for these devices.
I am computer literate enough to not be completely lost, and yet not enough
to resolve these issues. Any help I can receive would be GREATLY
appreciated! Thanks in advance!!! |

Reinstall your sound card drivers by running setup with install sound card cd.
ie which include Multimedia Audio Controller (2 listings),
Also, looks like your video display adapter needs to reinstalled also.
ie and Video controller (VGA compatible).
I don't know what the other refers to. Although it must need to be
reinstalled, also.
ie SM Bus controller,

You could remove/uninstall "all" problem devices in device manager. Then
while in Device Manger from tool bar menus, perform scan for changes.
Microsoft will try to install its own drivers hopefully.
Do the sound devices. then Scan. Do the Video. then scan.
I still don't know what "SM bus controller" is. Again you can try same method.
If this doesn't work, you physically remove sound card. Reboot. Then
Shutdown. Reinstall sound card. Reboot.

I really appreciate the help.
The only problem is, I bought this computer used from someone else, and I
don't seem to have any CDs to install. What now?
Is there a way to figure out what drivers I need and then obtain said
drivers from the internet? Is there a way to remove the audio/video software
so that Windows will automatically detect my audio/video hardware and install
said software?
I've realized that my DVD player doesn't work either now. |
