cant delete a file |
|
|
I had originally ahd a virus on my computer that i could not get rid of in
any way, and it bloked the use of all anti-virus of any kind. So i
reinstalled windows, asuming that it would delete all my folders i made a
back-up of my file on my external drive. After reinstalling windows i noticed
that my files had not been deleted, but on my account ( the most used one) i
had set all my files to be private so that the other computer administrators
could not see my files, or manipulate them. now that i created my new
accounts on my computer, i can access all of the old account files under
documents and settings, but when ever i whant to go in to my old one, it says
its says "Access Denied". So i figured that this wouldnt be a problem since i
had the files backed up, but now im faced with a new problem, that folder is
really big and full of music and such, so now when ever i try to load my old
files on to the computer they wont fit because the old one is taking up all
the space, and i cant delete it. I can't go back to my old account that i
know of, it does'nt exist anymore, so there no way of deleting it. I was just
wondering how i could solve this problem. |

It sounds like you did a repair install maybe? If that is the case you
really did not clean out your problems and should have done a pristine
install to a formatted system drive. Anyhow two things to try are to boot
into safe mode to delete the folder and make sure you have full control to
the folder. You may first have to take ownership of the folder and then give
yourself full control. When you take ownership be sure to check the box to
replace owner on subcontainers and objects at the parent folder. When you
take full control go into the advanced page and select the option to replace
permissions entries on all child objects. The links below may help. ---
