I'm thinking of buying the Netgear DG834GT wireless broadband router/modem
and the WG511T PCMCIA card for my laptop.

In a separate part of my house, I sometimes have two or three other PCs,
each with it's own NIC. (These have previously been cabled to my existing
wired Netgear router, but I'd like to do away with unsightly cables.)

My question is - can I buy something - a wireless hub? - which wirelessly
connects to my DG834GT - so each of my other PCs can plug into this wireless
hub
using existing CAT5 and this hub then communicates with the DG834GT?
I don't want to buy wireless NICs for each of these PCs, and even a wireless
USB dongle isn't great, because they'd all need access at the same time.

So, is it a wireless hub, and can someone point me in the right direction of
one? (I had a quick look at the Netgear site, but couldn't see a
description of what I'm looking for.)

What you're looking for is an Ethernet bridge. This Netgear unit appears to be
what you're describing.

The Netgear DG834GT and as many wireless PCI or PCMCIA adapters is all that
you will need..

Thanks Chuck - that's nearly perfect. In fact, the only thing against it is
that the other equipment I'll get will all support 108Mbps, but the 606 only
does 54.

I contacted Netgear, and they say a 108 version will be available next
year...

Wondering if there's another brand that could do the whole lot in 108 speed
right now.

I didn't want to buy a wireless adaptor for each PC because they change - I
do support and maintenance on PCs. I didn't want to have to install a
wireless card to connect to my network. So if I can just plug an ethernet
cable from the PC to my exisiting wireless network, then perfect. The 606
looks very close - only downside is the speed really.

IMHO Super-G is not ready for prime time. It requires 2 things:
# Same vendor for all equipment.
# A totally clear channel (all 11 channels). If you have any neighbors with
different capabilities, on any channel, you'll not get Super-G performance.
