I have a new Hard Drive I am wanting to install however my problem is
this. When i got my comp as a gift it was a sony vaio walmart comp.
windows os was already on it and i dont have disks for it or for other
things i have on that i dont want to lose. The comp already has a
master C:/ and a slave D:/ drive. is there a way i can replace the C
drive with my new drive without having to reinstall or lose any data?
essentially just transferring the contents of the old master to the new
one?
thanks

Hi,
It's so common problem, I had it too.
Well, to my experience it's better to use 'Clone Hard Drive'
solution by Acronis.
Just plug new HDD and follow the prompts. It'll take you about 15-20
minutes to transfer everything (OS, apps and all other stuff) from old
HDD without loosing any data!
Highly recommend.

Many drive manufacturers include software with their disks to do what you
want. You could also purchase imaging/copy products like Ghost,
Acronis,etc.
