How to program HP remote? |

I have one of the HP remote controls. They have all the same buttons as the
reference remote, but they cannot apparently be programmed the same way. Does
anyone know how to program an HP remote to control the volume and TV just
like you can one of the reference remotes?
Alternatively, does anyone know if the MS reference remote will work with
one of the HP Media Center PCs? (I have the z558 if it matters). I'd be
willing to buy one to get the backlit buttons and the ability to program it. |

Nope. Those are the instructions for the reference remote. They do not work
with the HP remote. Great link, but no dice.
Do you (or anyone) know if the Microsoft remote will work without
modifications with the HP system?

If it helps this is the Microsoft Media Center Remote Instructions, this
work on the MCE remote I do not if will work for your HP

Yes, it will work without modification to the HP system.

Excellent! I think that will be the ticket then. I spent 40 minutes on a
support chat with an HP support dude and the best he could tell me was how to
configure the remote to change the channel on the cable box using the IR
blaster.
