Backing Up Recorded TV for MCE 2005 Reinstall |
|
|
I have a WinXP Media Center Edition 2005 PC. I'd like to do a clean
reinstall of the operating system, but I'd like to make sure that I keep
my
Recorded TV. Is there anything special that needs to be done? I'm guessing
it's not as simple as copying the "Shared Documents\Recorded TV" folder,
or
is it?
I've also got a Linksys Media Center Extender... but I'm pretty confident
that if it works on the PC, that will work just fine. |

Yes, it is as simple as that. I use an external 250GB USB2 disk for Recorded TV
so don't even need to copy the files if I ever need to re-install MCE.

Correct.

How does one change the Recorded TV folder? |

I've seen enough requests for menu paths to do useful things that
I'd like to suggest a complete "menu tree" directory, so people
could find out these things easily.

Here's Doug Knox's answer to a similar question I had:
Your upcoming recordings are stored in:
C:\documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\eHome\Recording
Good luck.
