XP Media, Remote Control shut down |
|
|
When i use the power button on my XP Media Remote my PC won't shut down. I
get an error message about a PS2 keyboard driver. I've tried updating the
keyboard driver but get the same results. Has anyone had this problem and is
ther a fix? By the way I'm not a Guru so simple instructions would help.

This from Dr.stu
If you have any suspend setting, set them to s3 only (or s1 & s3)
Turn on ACPI 2.0 support (and any other advance power support options)
Turn off Wake on LAN, ps2 keyboard... basically everything
Add Reg Setting
Back in Windows, open up RegEdit (Start > Run > then type regedit)
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Then go through to SYSTEM > CurrentControlSet > Services
Right-click and select new Key. Rename it to USB
Add a new DWORD value to this key, called USBBIOSx
Now restart your PC
In device manager:
under Keyboards
Properties on Microsoft eHome...
Power management TAB
Make sure 'Allow this device to bring..." is checked
Properties on your keyboard
Power management TAB (if exists)
Change setting based on your preference
under Mice and other pointing devices
Properties on your mouse
Power management TAB (if exists)
Change setting based on your preference
Now try it out, you should be able to put your PC into standby by pressing
the PC button on the remote, then wake up again by pressing PC again! |

Thanks Dr. Stu,
I'll give that a try and let you know how it works out. However, I'm not
clear on the suspend setting, the ACPI support and the Lan, ps2 keyboard that
you mentioned, but I will do some research to learn abut that.
