Added SP2 to XP and it went wierd on me. |

I think I may have a DNS problem.
It all started when I updated a Windows XP Pro (TablePC Edition) to SP2 and
now it won't let me browse the LAN as it did before. Internet still works
just fine. It says that I do not have networking installed, which is just
not true! I'm posting this question from that computer right now.
On the only installed network adtaptor, I have configured a network
connection with "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)," "Client for Microsoft
Networks," and "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks."
While I can connect to local IIS boxes on my LAN by IP address, it is not
working with the usual local machine names.
Also, it will not let me join a domain or change certain aspects of the
computer's identity. I am logged-in under an account that is "an
Administrator" account. I originally setup this box as in a workgroup. Now
it won't let me change that — once again saying I do not have networking
installed. Bogus!
Searching the KB gets me only articles about high-end enterprise issues.
I've seen this issue before and fixed it — I just don't remember how. And I
NEVER saw this error where it says I do not have networking installed. That's
unforgivable.
