Hi
I was on an XP tweaking site, and obviously followed the wrong instructions into deleting the Page File, which resulted in start up failure.
After trying about everything, (safe mode, Last good known config options from the startup screen), I re-installed windows (repair installation, not a fresh copy) and ended up at the end of the boot with LSASS.exe message window saying: "Not enough Virtual memory or paging file to perform the operation." and windows failed to reboot. Finally, I installed a fresh copy into a new directory called "WINDOWSS" (just to preserve the old files), and from it, I tried to copy LSASS.exe into the old windows directory, and still, i get the same message when i try to log in to the first XP installation.. Even I tried to access my files from the new installation, and got the message "Access Denied". In addition, prior to that problem, I had 40 Ggb total disk space with available 21Ggb of free space, now it's 23 Ggb of total disk space with available 10 Ggb of free space..

Is there a way to enable the paging file/virtual memory from the DOS command? or is there any other way to resolve that problem? (I do have the XP Installation CD with the recovery console on it)
Note: I still have two boot options at startup, the old one, and the new installation.
Any help is greatly appreciated..
Thanks
Tony

Although I don't use it very often, I have a dual-boot configuration
set up on my machine. In order to minimize waste of space, I configured
the Page Files to be shared between the two Windows installations.

What I'd suggest you try is this: boot your WINDOWSS system and then
change the page file configuration so that it uses the page file on the
drive/partition that contains the page file used by your original
Windows system. By default, this would be your C drive. Increase the
space of this page file, or perhaps specify "let Windows manage...".

Now boot your original Windows system.

To change page file configuration, go to System Properties >
Advanced... and I can't be more specfic right now because I'm on an
Italian W2K system. If you need help getting there I'm sure somebody
will pitch in.

Thanks for your reply.
I tried it and it didn't really work..I still got the same error message.
I'm not sure what needs to be done. I haven't got any other replies from here besides yours, and that could possibly mean that there is no solution to such problem.
Anyway, thanks for trying to help.
