Try the following.
Click on Start, click on Run and type the following in the opening textbox:
REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL
and press the Enter key.
Note that there is a space between ...32 and SHI...
and there is a . between ...GVW and DLL
This should take a second to run.
Now, when your friend wants to send you a picture, he should click on the
picture to select it and click on e-mail this picture. A box should open
offering to resize the picture and then open the e-mail software with the
picture attached as a file.
If this does not work, you can resize the files first and then send the
resized file as given below.
To decrease the size of the file for e-mail, web publishing, etc.
Go to this site and download the free Image Resizer. Exe file in one of your
folder.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp
Once in your folder, double click on it to install it.
Once installed, you right click on a photo file (or on a group of selected
photo files).
Click on Resize image on the opening menu.
A window will open, select the size you want.
New files will be added in your folder, same name as original file but with
the word (small) or (custom) added.
The first time you use it, you may not see Resize image on the opening menu
after you right click on a photo file or if you see it and click on it, it
may not work. If so, do the following:
Click on Run, click on Start and type the following in the textbox:
REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL
and press the Enter key.
Note that there is a space between ...32 and SHI.
You should get a "success" message after pressing the Enter key.

| Quote: | A friend of mine has a msn.com address and just bought a new computer with
a
OEM version of Windows XP. It apparently does not automatically resize his
photos when he attaches them to his e-mail, and I am getting huge pictures
that take him forever to load.
My Question:
I ran Windows Me for years and at one time downloaded something called the
"MSN Photo upload tool" that automatically resized photos when I attached
them to an e-mail. My friend needs that but I don't remember where It came
from and don't find it listed as a MSN download.
If some one can tell me where to get this download, I will pass that
information along to my friend and make both our lives a little easier.
