Cannot access Files and folders on one pc. |
|
|
I have a DSL connection that is seen as lan inside the network
connections. I connected two computers to each other using a cross wire
on ethernet cards. Apparently the one connected to the modem is a ICS
Server and the other a client. During the network wizard usage i turned
the file sharing on. Anyway the problem i now have is that although the
internet connection works fine and the server can acces all shared files
on the network the client cannot see the files at all. When i try to
double click on the server computer name inside the workgroup view it
says that due to permissions it cannot be accessed and to contact the
system administrator to solve the problem. The thing is that i have set
NO PASSWORD and therefore i believe that such a problem should not have
existed. |

Just to add that both PCs run under XP SP2. |

What is the complete error? This error can have several variants, and different
causes.

Are the computers running XP Home or Pro (and if Pro, is it Simple File
Sharing?)? This will make a difference.

I followed your visibility guide and found that my personal firewall was
blocking the other PC's to view my files. Thanks very much. |
