Windows XP Media Center 2005
NVIDA DVD Decoder

Hauppauge WinTV-PVR 500 dual tuner
PNY NVIDA Vetro Geforce FX 5700 VE video card
ABIT KV7 mother board with onboard sound
1 GB of memory
AMD 2600 Athlon Processor

When I start Live TV it will run from a few seconds to a few minutes with a
one time maximum run of about 30 minutes and then everything freezes.
Nothing responds on the computer and it must be powered down and restarted.
The FM radio function will run for less than 30 minutes too and then the
system freezes. Using the DVD movie play back function played back an entire
movie OK. I have all the latest drivers and software updates installed as of
November 4, 2005 including NVIDA DVD Decoder, TV tuner driver, video card
driver, mother board BIOS, Windows XP and Media Center updates.

Any help on which way to look would be appreciated.

Thanks
Dennis

Hi Jason

Thanks for the quick response and good suggestion

I just checked and I had PureVideo version 1.02-150. I have uninstalled the
old version and installed version 1.02-185. Retested and Live TV, it ran a
couple of minutes then froze the entire computer as before. Is there any
test I could run to help us identify the problem area or what would you
suggest next?

Thanks again

Dennis

Hello Richard

Good suggestion but the covers are off the case and all the fans are clean
and running and it's only 67 degrees in the room. I have also had the TV
card running in differnent slots with nothing around it.

Thanks

..NET Framework 2.0 does NOT replace .NET Framework 1.1.

You still need .net Framework 1.1 and .net Framework 1.1 SP1 to use MCE2005
with UR2.

Hello Gary

Thanks

After posting my question the first part of your UR2 answer occurred to me
as I was looking at more of the posting.

I had my system freeze up problem before installing Rollup 2. After
installing Rollup 2, things worked the same, no better or worse but
consistently locking up when I attempt to run live TV.

I appreciate all the suggestions and effort everyone is putting toward my
problem.

The latest video card driver is not 77.79

It is 81.25 and it is available here -
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_81.85.html (81.25 actually supports
more hardware than the 77.79 version you are mentioning)

You can get to this link by going to Nvidia.com
Then hit the drivers link
Then select Graphics Driver, GeForce and TNT 2, Windows XP/2000.

This will lead you to the 81.25 version and this is the one you ought to be
using.

Also make sure you've installed the newest NVidia codec which my brother
mentioned earlier in the thread
It is available here
http://www.nvidia.com/object/dvd_decoder_1.02-185-trial.html

Other things to try
- Update your bios (it appears this is the latest for your motherboard -
http://www.abit-usa.com/products/mb/bios.php?categories=1&model=125)
- Update your chipset drivers
(http://www.viaarena.com/Driver/via_hyperionpro_v504a.zip)
- Update your audio drivers
(ftp://202.65.194.18/pc/ac97/alc650/WDM_A379.exe)
