Re-install WinXP after memory upgrade ? |
|
|
I have an IBM Thinkpad 770ED.
I just upgrade the memory from 128 MB to 224 MB.
Do I need to wipe the HD clean and re-install WinXP? |

No you should be able to start up without any issues. If there should be problems repost here with
details.

No, there were no problems. The System Control Panel accurately reads 224
MB of RAM.
I was just concerned that maybe the operating system was original optimized
to function with 128 MB of RAM, and now that the memory has been upgraded to
224 MB of RAM, will reinstalling the operating system re-optimize the
settings to take advantage of the larger RAM. I guess from your post, it
seems everything will be okay as it is.
Thanks. |

Windows will use all the RAM you can throw at it. A re-install will make no difference in
performance.
