___ I've had problems (please include brief description).
Programming Guide failed to download, black screen (reg errors), no tuner
recognized. The fix? here:
http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2005/10/18/482472.aspx
reinstall .net, re-reg media center, it all works
I also added numerous reg entries back in (had a stable backup to work from)
It's NOT the first time that I've had grief with a patch from MS. |

I have had a couple problems
1) Every other time (it seems) that I restart my computer, I get "Loss of
Signal" on my decoder. After another restart, it works again.
2) I know have three MCX Users listed on my system. I have an extender and
previouly only had MCX1. Not sure where the other two came from, but it
doesn't seem to effect the system.

XX I've had problems.
First I couldn't play any protected content recordings, for which I had to
rollback the update all my video drivers. Now I cannot watch recorded TV
maximized... the sounds stutters, then picture freezes and Media Center (and
it looks like the whole computer) goes non-responsive. Not sure if this is a
problem with my system, but it's never happened before.
Cheers, Julie

I had problems with "restriction contect" when watching digital channels
after rollup 2. I had to rollback and now my video/audio studders. I
reinstalled video, tuner, audio drivers and power dvd2 with patch, and still
have video/audio studder.

Well, first I got errors on install, it went so bad that I had to fully
reformat my PC.
With a fresh start I have MCE in perfect conditions, except for one big
problem... in my XBox Extender I get the can not play protected content
on HBO and other protected channels in both, live and recorded
programs, while in the PC works perfectly well and before Rollup 2 it
worked flawlessly.
Sad to see so many problems, hope a fix is found soon. |

I'm seeing playback stutter/freezing problems after the rollup. The rollup
installation went OK and I don't see any error messages during operation, but
there are frequent glitches, stutters, and tiling in the video playback (one
every 2 minutes or so). Also, the MCE UI is very slow to respond to commands
on startup (5-10 second delays), but the speed improves after I have made my
way through the screens once. I've also had more lock-ups after the roll-up
that required ALT-F4 to restart the MCE UI; somethimes when starting a new
recorded video playback, but mostly when resuming/unpausing video that has
been paused for a while.
Appears to me as if there was too much deep-fried goodness in the roll-up. |

before rollup 2 media center froze frequently having to actually turn of power to reboot. after rollup2 mce would not even open. removed rollup(or tried to) then reinstalled rollup2. then installed update after rollup 2. now media center works better, except i still have freeze ups when switching programs in mc, which involves turning off power to reboot. also have flashes of onscreen items. i would have to say that the gneral overall performance of mc improved though. hopefully someday an update will appear that solves these freezes?????? |

have a Crippled HTPC. I cannot understand why I could not even restore the
PC....

RE: Survey - Problems with Rollup 2? |

Yes, I've had problems
After the update, when trying to open media center, I only get a black
screen with a flickering mouse.
If I click on the windows button (on keyboard), Media Center pops up in the
background. I can get one click inside of Media Center before returning to
the black screen/flickering mouse.
I have updated everything on my computer, including bios and video drivers.
For the video driver, I first updated to the latest driver on the nvidia
website (77.79), no fix to the problem. In another post, I saw that someone
said under the windows XP/2000 had the latest driver for MCE (driver 81.85).
I loaded this driver set and still no fix.
After finding the problem, I also installed the TweakMCE utility. I can run
this utililty and have no problems (looks like Media Center).
I have a home built system with:
AMD 64 3000+
MSI 6600GT PCI express GeForce
Media Center 2005 (of course)
1 GB of memory
On a wireless network (using D-Link 108Mps)
-> 64 bit encryption
DFI Lanparty nF4 motherboard

Overall Rollup Update 2 has been good, but I have had two separte problems...
1. If I am playing music on my MCE Extendeter, I can not change user
profiles on the main MCE Compter.
2. The Tweak Media Center Power Toy does not seem to work with this update.
I get an error when I try to lauch (this error is meant to be run with
MCE2005 only).
I hope this information is helpful.

I've had problems
I cannot fast forward or rewind at all. Skip back/forward works. Very
odd... Sometimes MCE doesn't respond to the remote at all. The
external tuner light flashes red when I press any remote button though.
Replugging the usb cable, or power cycling the tuner fixes the latter
problem. |

I have problems.
After installing Rollup 2, My TV immediately crashes when trying to open.
The error that pops up on the TV screen says "Video Error". After
uninstalling Rollup 2, problem is solved.

I've had problems. I applied the rollup and everything was fine. Started
noticing that my NVTV tv tuner was recording programs with a lot of skips,
which I didn't have before.
Biggest problem: I turned on optimization and it did whatever it's supposed
to do I guess, since there was no info on what the optimization was going to
do. Noticed that night that all recorded TV that was copy protected can no
longer be viewed. Keep getting "Restricted Content" message when attempting
to view.
