We've seen lots of reports of problems people have had after
installing Rollup 2. I'm curious if *most* people have had
problems, or if we are only hearing from a small percentage
of users those that actually did have problems.

So please reply to this message with one of the two responses:

___ I've had no problems.
___ I've had problems (please include brief description).

Thanks in advance for your replies!

I've had no problems... so far, so good!

Before the rollup 2 update my MCE cannot finish burning a recorded tv show,
always hang @3%, but after the rollup 2 update, the burning improves, so far
I burned 10 one hour shows already! I can say I'm satisfied with this update.

I lost my turner cards. Had to reinstall drivers. I didn't have my STB setup
before RU2, I set it up afterwards and I get restricted content on HBO. Don't
know if that's because of RU2 or not. After reading other posts it seems so.

_X__ I've had problems (please include brief description)

Live TV, DVD and Video did not work until I rolled back, installed all
recent drivers and did the rollup again. Then the DRM for my purchased
Napster tracks broke. Fixed that, but had to rollback again and go through a
myriad of dead ends before I fixed that as well. Total time investment in
Rollup 2 is about 15 hours.

I think this survey misses the point - even if 90% of people do not have
problems, that is a very poor result. From a statistical point of view, it
isn't even approaching relevancy unless you include a larger sample of people
- particularly those that are sitting on the phone with OEM help desks right
now because they don't know where else to turn. I would just look at the
sudden increase in Rollup2 related problems in this forum alone as strong
evidence that something is definitely amiss - I do not recall this type of
banter after Rollup1.

I had a problem, but it was minor and partially my own fault. I had a
recording scheduled to start right after I finished installing. The
recording was trash and I suspect it was because I had not rebooted. Or
perhaps because the fix for rollup 2 was not yet installed.

Quote:
I think this survey misses the point -

The point is, as I stated, that I'm curious as to what
percentage of users are experiencing problems with RU2.
So how does the survey miss *that* point?

Quote:

problems, that is a very poor result.

I agree. Did I say anything to make you think that
I would find that acceptable? No. Of course not.

But what if only 1% of people had problems? How about
if it's only 0.1%? People don't tend to post messages
to newsgroups to say that an update worked for them.
They typically only post messages when they don't work.

So hopefully this VERY unscientific survey will provide
a somewhat more accurate perspective as to how widespread
the problems are.

Also please note that this isn't an official Microsoft
survey, nor was I asked to do this for them. It was
just my idea, out of curiosity. But I definitely will
pass along the results to Microsoft.

Thanks for your feedback.

Gateway 820GM Media Center PC
Virgin except for a Samsung CLP-510 laser printer and ViewSonic VP201s
monitor added.

Updated to Rollup 2 and Update resulting in restricted content error
message when attempting to view _any_ TV channel (being fed by a
Hughes DirecTV w/TIVO).

Will probably never attempt the upgrade again. 62+ MB via dial-up was
a major waste of resources.

I have had major probs with the "My Videos" section of MCE after then
rollup. The "My Videos" works fine on the main PC, but crashes as soon
as I try to start "My Videos" when logged in as another user, and on
both of my Extenders (Linksys & XBox).
I do get a "crash error" message when trying to use "My Videos" logged
in as another user, and I get a "00020002" message when trying to use
the Extenders. I tried to rollback, but then Media Center would not
work at all.
I wish I had left well enough alone, because I don't have a clue as to
what to try now.
