I've used fax console successfully for a couple of years, but when I send a
fax now I get "no answer" message. However, the fax recipient answers and
sends cng tone, I've tried sending a fax to a telephone line and my fax
console sends cng tone. I've uninstalled and reinstalled fax console. I've
run diagnostics on my modem which is ok. Don't know what else to try.

Hello gillwright,

I had the same problem, I had been able to fax without problem for the
last
couple of years. I thought when I opened my box, I might have done
something
to compromise my modem's ability to fax.

So, I opened my box back up, and moved my modem to another pci slot. That
solved my problem, I can now fax to my heart's content.

So now, if you are comfortable with getting inside your computer, then try
what I did. It is fairly simple, but if you're not careful, you could
damage
your system if you don't discharge any potential static electricity before
you touch anything. Just touch the power supply a couple of times. You may
feel a static shock (very light) or not. This in any event will do the
trick.

Then locate your modem. unscrew the modem from the box, and lift it out of
the slot. Remove a cover off of an adjoining slot and place the modem in
that slot. Screw it in snug, and you are ready to go. Also, some boxes are
made so you can replace a slot cover either by snaping it in or screwing
it
in. It isn't important but it does keep it somewhat neat and nice looking.

Well, I hope this helps. Good Luck.

Peace,

Jeff Bowen

Has anything changed (new hardware, application program updates, Windows
updates, etc.) that might correspond with the time that Fax quit working?

Not that I am aware of, but I do get automatic updates regularly.
