Win XP freezes when target printer unavailable |

Win XP client will freeze in any application when the network target printer
is not available. Target is an HP laser spooled through an LPT port on a
dedicated Win 98 PC dedicated as a print server. If the print server is off
line ( powered off or hung) the XP workstations trying to print to it will
hang totally - cannot use mouse or keyboard. this is on multiple
workstations and in multiple apps. All workstations are new Dell optiplex
systems with a few apps about 3-5 years old, but all XP aware. XP and 9x
Drivers are latest available for HPLJ2100. Did not have this issue prior to
SP2.
