Database update failed |
|
|
I tried to import a .sld file and got the following error:
Error: Cannot delete repository files in the target folder. Please make sure
you have write access to the files.
File sharing is enabled. What did I break? Should I reinstall the
database? Please help!

Janiek,
Thanks - I tried this and it worked.
I wonder what caused it in the first place?

Dean

I had that problem a couple of times. I'm not sure it is safe (with
the database and all) but it worked. I just deleted the repository
manually (if repository only contains files from failed import) or
delete files manually.
Hope that helps,
Janiek

Re: Database update failed |

This is caused from the share permissions which were applied during the XPe
install.
When XPe installs it provides the user a dialog explaining that the share
folder "repositories" will be read only. This helps prevent the
respositories from being corrupted by non-authenticated sources VIA the net
share. (EG - An admin must have local disk access to really have
modify/delete privs on the folder/files themselves.)
In the future - if you know that the files internal to the respoitory folder
will not be updated and the import is simply a component update - then you
can uncheck the "Copy repsitory files to repository root" check box to
import the component and not recieve the error your recieved. Otherwise
you'll have to save off files or etc. Just keep in mind that more than one
component can share a repository folder so if a user just deletes the entire
folder then they may end up removing files owned by other components.
