Is there a way to copy and burn on the first 25 sec of a 3 min. tune on a
CD. In other words, I dont want the whole song?

I use XP SP2 Home Edit

Of course! You'll need some audio software to save that selection to a file.

You may already have software like Creative WaveStudio or Nero Wave Editor
that (I assume) do the trick.
Besides, a freeware solution is Audacity, http://audacity.sourceforge.net/.

The Wave Studio and/or Wave Editor will only edit WAV files. If you are
trying to edit MP3 or different format music files, you'll need to convert
them
to WAV format, edit, convert back to MP3 and you'll have some quality loss
in those files. As Chris stated, try Audacity for better results.

Audacity (sound file editor, recorder)
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

CDex :Home (WAV to MP3 converter & file editor)
http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/
