unknow error when capturing in movie maker |
|
|
I have a canon camcorder ZR400, when conneting the camcorder with my pc with
fire wire, movie maker recognize the zr400, I can rewind the tape, but when
it go to capture video, an window error come up " unknown error".
I contacted canon support, they told me that the camera has no software on
it, it is manipulated by movie maker, they recomended to uninstall movie
maker and re-instal it.
is this the right thing to do, if yes how do i remove movie maker, it can
not be done from add remove, so what should i do.
thanks in advance.

Movie maker is part of windows, I wouldn't recommend trying to un-install it
at this stage.
Which version do you have? You may be able to install an updated version.
Otherwise, faulty cables firewire ports etc are a big cause of this, so here
are a couple pf p[ages with lots of things to try to help you identify the
problem. Please report back with the anserws to the test for more help.

HI cheched the fire whire in control panel, it is fine.
I can rewind the tape, forward it etc just can not capture.
I purchase PCDOC 3.5 and tested all DLL etc did a complete pc scan and still
it is not working, I am at lost here.
my last option is to test my fire wire on another computer but it is a 4 pin
cable so it will not fit a desktop.
waiting for more recomendations.

the version is 2.1.4026.0
I tested my cable and camcorder on another laptop, it work right away.
my firewire card I think it work because the movie maker can connect to the
camcorder and rewind the tape, yesterday I tested the capture with
Powerdirector4 software and i could scan the tape but when I went to record
the capture it when on error again so I have to think it is something, how do
i test the fire wire card properly?
regards,
marc.

Have you tried all the tests I suggest on the pages? It may mean
begging/stealing/borrowing parts from friends, but you need to do it to rule
out faulty products. Come back with those results and then we can try to
help more.
